Michelle Bégin Thériault
Michelle Bégin Thériault is an emerging artist from Kapuskasing with 4 years of experience in acrylic painting, oil and watercolour painting, and drawing. Her father, Albert Bégin, was born and raised in Hearst! In 2025, she did an exhibition in Kapuskasing, she participated in a Christmas market, and two years of 3-day workshops with renowned artist Barry Bowerman on Manitoulin Island. Over the years, she has practiced various art forms, such as quilting, knitting, stained glass, Indigenous moccasins and mittens, beading, and sewing. Now she is focused on the creation of acrylic, oil and watercolour painting.
Her paintings and drawings are on canvas, special paper for different types of supports, brown paper and also acrylic paintings on pieces of cedar. She also offers greeting cards depicting different watercolor paintings with a blank interior. She has many treasured memories and has thoroughly enjoyed the courses she has taken, especially the most recent, Painting and Drawing. Painting was the last thing she thought she would enjoy! For her, painting is relaxing. Nature is a source of inspiration. She loves to paint nature, birds, wildlife and the world around her.
Biography
Michelle is an emerging artist since 2023, born, raised, and retired in Kapuskasing, Ontario. She is an artist of acrylic, oil and watercolour painting, and also makes pencil and charcoal drawings. She has taken four years of acrylic painting and watercolor classes, and most recently, a drawing class. Oil painting is her current focus. She had the pleasure of participating in two three-day workshops on Manitoulin Island with renowned artist Barry Bowerman. Michelle held her first exhibition and participated in a Christmas market in Kapuskasing in 2025. Her previous artistic background includes quilting, knitting, stained glass, making Indigenous moccasins and mittens, beadwork, sewing. Now she is focused on acrylic, oil and watercolour painting, as well as pencil and charcoal drawing.
